MFA Setup

What Is It?

Multi-factor authentication, or MFA, is a second authentication that comes after your password (your ‘first’ authentication). The second authentication sends a code or a request that must be verified to allow you to continue signing in.

Who Is Eligible to Use It?

All Lipscomb student and employee accounts are required to use Multi-factor authentication.

Where Can I Get It?

You will be automatically prompted to setup your preferred MFA method when you sign in to your account the first time.

How Do I Use It?

You may choose to use multiple different methods for MFA. You may choose to get a text message or phone call, or you may use an Authenticator app. You can use either the Microsoft, Google, Duo, or LastPass Authenticator apps.

If you are travelling internationally, please use an Authenticator app installed on a wifi-capable mobile device. Even if you cannot get cell service, you still should be able to use available wifi to link and still access your account.

If you cannot access your preferred method, you will be locked out of your account. We recommend setting up mutliple methods to ensure you do not lose access. IT can reset your account, but at their time and discretion.

To review MFA options and further information, see the KnowledgeBase articles linked on this page (you need to be signed in to see the articles links- see sign in link at top right next to the search bar).
